Application for operating the new round of Arts Corner stalls in Hong Kong Park will open from tomorrow (October 8). The Leisure and Cultural Services Department now invites interested individuals and subvented non-governmental organisations to apply.
The Arts Corner will be held at the outdoor area near the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware in Hong Kong Park from noon to 6pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from January 1 to December 31, 2011.
It will make visits to the park more enjoyable and parkgoers can appreciate the artworks in a relaxing environment.
The Arts Corner will feature 10 stalls selling handicrafts or arts services including pottery, straw-weaving work, dough models, paper craftwork, carving work, accessories, floral artwork, sand paintings, cloth artwork and clay work. Other services such as photography, painting, calligraphy, silhouette cutting and sketching or caricature will also be provided.
Interested parties may submit their applications from tomorrow to November 5. Application forms are available from the Hong Kong Park Management Office on the first floor of Rawlinson House, 19 Cotton Tree Drive, Central, Hong Kong, or can be downloaded from the website of Hong Kong Park at www.lcsd.gov.hk/parks/hkp/en/news_index.php. The office hours of the park are from 9am to 5.30pm (except 1pm to 2pm) from Mondays to Fridays; closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Completed application forms should be submitted together with copies of relevant proof of professional knowledge in the respective field (if any) and sample(s) of handicrafts or artwork (not more than three pieces) to the Hong Kong Park Management Office during its office hours before 5.30pm on November 5.
The Arts Corner Vetting Panel will consider the applications based on the variety, quality, creativity, artistic merit and attractiveness of the handicrafts or arts services, as well as relevant professional skills possessed by applicants. Irrespective of the types of stalls, the first 10 applicants with the highest marks will be accepted and the others will be put on the waiting list in sequence according to their marks. A ballot will be held for applicants with equal marks.
Successful applicants are required to pay a registration fee of $100 and a deposit of $1,000 for each stall. If the stall is operated for less than 70% of the contract time or if the agreement is terminated due to failure to fulfil its terms, the deposit will be forfeited and an application from the same applicant for the next round of Arts Corner will not be accepted. Successful applicants are required to effect and keep in force a public liability insurance with an indemnity of not less than HK$6.5 million during the contract period.
