Body of newborn baby found in Sheung Shui

     Police are investigating a baby body found case in Sheung Shui last night (October 6) in which a newborn baby girl was found inside a plastic bag placed in the vicinity of Wu Tip Shan Road.

     About 8pm last night, Police received a report that two boys carrying a plastic bag were acting suspiciously on Wah Ming Road. Police officers sped to the scene and located two 16-year-old boys on Wu Tip Shan Road. A plastic bag with a newborn baby girl was also found in the vicinity. The baby, with an umbilical cord attached, was rushed to the Northern District Hospital where she was certified dead at 9.06pm.

     Police arrested the duo at scene. After initial investigations, a 17-year-old girl was also arrested in Sai Kung early this morning (October 7).

     Initial enquiries revealed that the duo carried the newborn baby girl inside a plastic bag and placed it in the vicinity of Wu Tip Shan Road in Sheung Shui last night after the girl have given birth to the baby girl at a flat in Sai Kung yesterday morning.

     A post-mortem examination will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of the baby's death.

     Two boys and the girl were arrested for preventing the lawful burial of a body and are still being detained for further enquiries.

     Active investigations by the District Crime Squad of Tai Po are underway.
