The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health received reports of influenza-like illness (ILI) outbreak in six schools affecting 30 persons during the 24 hours ending at noon today (October 5).
Reports about hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) outbreaks involving 27 persons in ten schools were received during the same period.
The above brought to 61 and 91 respectively the cumulative totals of ILI and HFMD outbreak reports since the start of the new school term in September.
Schools should refer to the guidelines on prevention of communicable diseases for practical information on preventive measures of common communicable diseases. More information are available on the website of CHP at www.chp.gov.hk.
