Hongkong Post Announces "One Person, One Letter" Free Post Day
***********************************************************

The Postmaster General, Mr Clement Cheung, announced today (October 4) that Hongkong Post will organise the "One Person, One Letter" Free Post Day on October 9, a date marking establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 and subsequently declared World Post Day by the UPU Congress in 1969.

"Letter is a powerful way to convey tender love and care.  In an era when personal interactions are increasingly dominated by electronic means, expression by writing carries a unique sentimental meaning.  In a bid to encourage people to reach out to somebody special and in support of our mission of 'Linking People, Delivering Business', Hongkong Post is pleased to hold the 'One Person, One Letter' Free Post Day for the seventh consecutive year", said Mr Cheung.

On Free Post Day, everyone may send a letter free of postage to any designated recipients in Hong Kong.  Special posting boxes will be placed at all post offices (except the two mobile ones) to receive these letters on that day.  The relevant details are attached.

Further information about the "One Person, One Letter" Free Post Day could be obtained from any post offices, the website of Hongkong Post at www.hongkongpost.com or the Hongkong Post hotline on 2921 2222.
