Fatal traffic accident in Tsuen Wan

     Police are investigating a traffic accident in Tsuen Wan this morning (September 26) in which a 44-year-old man was killed and two men and three women were injured.

     About 6.05am, a private car (P/C) driven by a 32-year-old man was travelling along Wo Yip Hop Road upslope. When approaching outside 290 Wo Yi Hop Road, it reportedly rammed into a light goods vehicle and then a taxi which were travelling along the opposite direction.

     After the incident, the 44-year-old taxi driver, a 45-year-old male taxi passenger, the 32-year-old P/C driver and a 24-year-old female P/C passenger sustained head injuries and were rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital where the taxi driver was certified dead at 8.27am. Another two female P/C passengers, aged 24 and 25, were sent to Yan Chai Hospital for medical treatment.

     The private car driver was arrested for failing to provide breath specimen for screening and dangerous driving causing death. He was released on bail pending further enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South, are underway.
