Public consultation on review of columbarium policy to end soon
***********************************************************

Members of the public are encouraged to forward their views and comments on the review of columbarium policy before the public consultation ends on September 30 (Thursday).

On July 6, the Government launched a three-month public consultation to solicit views relating to columbarium policy.  The Government would like to solicit the public's views on two key issues - how to increase the supply of columbarium facilities and how to enhance regulation of private columbaria.

A spokesman for the Food and Health Bureau said: "Members of the public may continue to send in their views before the closing date by post, email or fax.

"We hope that the public will participate actively in the consultation exercise.  Their feedback can help us gain a better understanding of the community's concerns and expectations on the future development of columbarium policy.  After collecting public views, we will analyse them and report back to the Legislative Council on the consultation outcome in due course."

Views and comments can be sent to the Food Division of the Food and Health Bureau: by post to 20/F, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong; by email to ccc@fhb.gov.hk; or by fax to 2136 3281.  Copies of the consultation document can be downloaded from the website of the Food and Health Bureau (www.fhb.gov.hk), and are available for collection at district offices.
