Kwun Tong grand parade to celebrate National Day

     The 2010 Kwun Tong Festival Grand Parade in celebration of National Day will be held at 1pm on Sunday (September 26) in Kwun Tong Town Centre to celebrate both the Kwun Tong Festival and the 61st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

     The parade is co-organised by the Kwun Tong District Council and Kwun Tong District Office.

     The launch ceremony will be held at the open space near the junction of Sheung Yee Road and Wang Chiu Road, Kowloon Bay, at 1pm on that day. Led by officiating guests and district councillors, the 3,000-strong parade will set off from Sheung Yee Road, march to Sheung Yee Road flyover and Ngau Tau Kok Road, and end at Yue Man Square Rest Garden in Kwun Tong.

     To share the joy of the Kwun Tong Festival and National Day with members of the public, there will be performances of all kinds in the parade, including a marching band performance, dragon and lion dances, Chinese ethnic dances, martial art demonstrations, tai chi, roller skating and artistic cycling. Participants in the parade will also dress up in traditional costume.

     In order to promote the integration of people with disabilities, wheelchair users are also invited to join the parade.

     Officiating guests of the 2010 Kwun Tong Festival Grand Parade in celebration of National Day are: Deputy Director-General of Kowloon Sub-office, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, Mr Yu Yu-man; Chairman of Kwun Tong District Council, Mr Chan Chung-bun; Acting District Officer (Kwun Tong), Mr William Tsui; and Convenor of the Kwun Tong District Festival Organising Committee's Outdoor Activities Working Group, Mr Chow Yiu-ming.
