In the second day polling of the 2010 nomination of representatives of arts interests for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC), over 1,000 voters have cast their ballots as at 6pm today (September 18).
A spokesman for the Home Affairs Bureau urged the registered voters to exercise their rights. The three-day polling is being held at the Hall of the Tsim Sha Tsui District Kai Fong Welfare Association, 136A Nathan Road, Kowloon, from 9am to 9pm daily and would end at 9pm tomorrow. There are over 7,000 voters.
???? Their votes will determine the list of representatives?for the Chief Executive to consider appointment to the council. Members will assist in the planning, promotion and support of the broad development of arts in Hong Kong. The new term will start on January 1, 2011.
???? A cross-interest voting system will continue to be adopted this year. Voters from all 10 arts interests may cast votes for candidates standing for nomination in the eight contested arts interests, i.e., arts administration, arts education, dance, film arts, literary arts, music, visual arts and Chinese opera (Xiqu). As the candidate in the arts interest of "drama" is running uncontested and no nomination was received for the arts interest of "arts criticism", no polling will be arranged for these two arts interests.
