The Government proposes to allow the Hongkong Electric Company Limited to undertake site investigation and thereafter install approximately eight marine piles, by proposed percussive piling, within an area of about 2,030 square metres of sea-bed about four kilometres southwest of Lamma Island.
The work aims to form a foundation system to support a temporary offshore wind monitoring station which will be used to collect wind data in connection with the study to develop an offshore wind farm in Hong Kong waters.
The installation work is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2011 and will be completed by the end of 2011.
The extent of the area affected is described in a notice published in the government gazette today (September 17).
The notice together with its related plan can be seen on notice boards posted near the site. The plan can be seen and purchased on order at the Survey and Mapping Office of the Lands Department, 23rd floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point. It can also be seen at the Islands District Office and on the Lands Department's website (www.landsd.gov.hk).
Any person who considers that he has an interest, right or easement in or over the sea-bed involved may submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20th floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, on or before November 17.
