Dancers to perform in museum's heritage setting
***********************************************

DanceArt Hong Kong will stage its latest production "Shattered Shackles" at the Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum in October as part of the Live! at Museums Series presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

Seasoned choreographer Francis Leung will present his innovative best in "Shattered Shackles", which draws its inspiration from the world created by the pen of Pai Hsien-yung. The setting is the Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum, which is transported back in time to its former self - Kom Tong Hall in colonial Hong Kong. A bygone era is resurrected from washed-out memories. A shadowy, transitory existence is called up by the music of Ivan Hui, in a nostalgic mix of Chinese and Western tunes that reverberate in the captured space. Behind the flamboyant dance lurks the judgmental Old World. Love and lust meet head on, fighting each other and alternatively embracing each other...

Dancers Frankie Ho, Icey Lam and Yvette Huang will bring patrons somewhere back in time, where there is a mansion with a door and a dim light. There, gay young men find secret solace, and lone young girls lose their hearts.

"Shattered Shackles" by DanceArt Hong Kong will be staged at 8pm on October 14 (Thursday), 7.15pm and 9.15pm on October 15 and 16 (Friday and Saturday), at the Special Exhibition Gallery, Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum, 7 Castle Road, Mid-Levels, Central (in the vicinity of the Central to Mid-Levels Escalator).
