Man sentenced for assaulting FEHD officer

     A man was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment, suspended for one year, in Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts today (September 13) for assaulting a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) officer occasioning bodily harm.

     The man refused to co-operate and assaulted an FEHD officer who had issued him a fixed penalty notice after seeing him spit in Portland Street, Mong Kok on September 5.

     A department spokesman urged the public to co-operate with law enforcement officers in the execution of their duties.

     "Use of violence against law enforcement officers is not only improper, but also carries legal consequences," he said.
