The Legislative Council Panel on Food Safety and Environmental Hygiene continued its duty visit in Sapporo, Japan yesterday (September 10) to get to know the operation of Japan’s fisheries industry.
On its second day in Sapporo, the delegation met with the Hokkaido Fisheries Coordination Office, Fisheries Agency to understand its supporting mechanism for the fisheries industry. The delegation also visited the Otaru shi Fisheries Cooperative Association to exchange views with local fishermen on ways to promote and sustain fisheries industry.
The delegation visited the Sapporo Central Wholesale Markets to learn about the set up and operation of a typical seafood market in Hokkaido early in the morning today (September 11). They will then conclude the four-day duty visit in Japan and depart for Hong Kong in the afternoon.
