The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health received reports of influenza-like illness (ILI) outbreaks in two schools affecting eight persons during the 24 hours ending at noon today (September 10).
A report about a hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) outbreak involving two persons in a school was received during the same period.
The above brought to six and 14 the cumulative totals of ILI and HFMD outbreak reports respectively since the start of the new school term in September.
Schools should refer to the guidelines on prevention of communicable diseases for practical information on preventing such diseases. More information is available on the CHP's website at www.chp.gov.hk.
