Five employers ordered to pay MPF contributions

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (September 8) pursued five claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $53,000 on behalf of 21 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     At the Tribunal's hearing today, two defendants, namely Creative Printing & Production Limited and Sight and Sound Production Limited, did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $36,487.5 and $7,845.88 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The other three defendants, namely Promotional Supplies Company Limited, Sen Jie China Logistics Limited and Anil I. Moorjani trading as Ace Trading Company, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $5,376.46, $3,134.6 and $457.92 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Adjudicator further ordered the defendants to pay $176, $135, $184, $96 and $79 respectively as the costs of the claims.
