New Commandant of the HKAPF appointed (with photo)

     The Government announced today (September 3) the appointment of Mr James Yiu Yeung-lung as the Commandant of the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force (HKAPF) with effect from September 10, 2010.

     The appointment was made by the Chief Executive to succeed the retiring Commandant, Mr Arthur Kwok Chi-shun, PDSM.

     Mr Yiu, aged 55, is the Managing Director of a local capital management consultancy firm. He joined the HKAPF as a Constable in June 1976 and was promoted to Superintendent (Auxiliary) in December 1988, Senior Superintendent (Auxiliary) in June 1993 and Chief Superintendent (Auxiliary) in February 2003. Mr Yiu was appointed as the Deputy Commandant of HKAPF by the Chief Executive on July 5, 2007.

     Mr Yiu has a wide range of operational and management experience. He was awarded the Long Service Medal for Auxiliary Police in 1997, the First Clasp in 2001 and the Hong Kong Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2007.
