The franchisee of Route 3 (Country Park Section) will maintain actual tolls at the current levels, despite new statutory tolls being gazetted today (September 3).
"Route 3 is entitled to increase its tolls if the actual net revenue falls short of the minimum estimated net revenue specified in the legislation," a spokesman for the Transport and Housing Bureau said.
"We understand the tunnel company will keep the actual tolls unchanged for all types of vehicles, and users will therefore not be affected," he said.
The toll adjustment mechanism for Route 3 is specified in the Tai Lam Tunnel and Yuen Long Approach Road Ordinance (Cap. 474). The franchisee of Route 3 recently notified the Government of their decision to exercise their right to effect a statutory toll increase. The new statutory tolls of Route 3 will take effect tomorrow (September 4). The tunnel company will continue to offer concessions to all types of vehicles such that current toll levels will be maintained.
