The nomination exercise for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) has entered the last three weeks of electioneering. To enable voters to learn more about the candidates, a forum will be held for candidates to present their election platforms and to answer questions from voters. Twenty candidates standing for nomination will participate. Interested parties are welcome to attend.
The candidates forum will be held from 10am to 6pm this Saturday (September 4) in Y-Studio, 2/F, Youth Square, 238 Chai Wan Road, Chai Wan, Hong Kong. As the candidate in the arts interest of Drama is uncontested and no nomination was received for the arts interest of Arts Criticism, no polling or candidate forum sessions will be held for these two arts interests. Candidate forum sessions for the eight contested arts interests (Arts Administration, Arts Education, Dance, Film Arts, Literary Arts, Music, Visual Arts and Chinese Opera (Xiqu)) will be held as follows:
10.05am - 10.30am Arts Administration
10.30am - 11.30am Arts Education
11.30am - 12.15pm Dance
12.15pm - 12.40pm Film Arts
2pm - 2.55pm Literary Arts
2.55pm - 3.40pm Music
3.40pm - 4.15pm Visual Arts
4.15pm - 4.40pm Chinese Opera (Xiqu)
The programme of each session will comprise: 1) Presentation of candidate platform; 2) Answering questions from the floor; and 3) Debate among the candidates of the eight arts interests. Each candidate will have a maximum of three minutes in each part. A final question and answer session for all candidates for the eight arts interests will be conducted from 4.50pm to 6pm.

Polling will be held from September 17 to 19, 2010, at the Hall of The Tsim Sha Tsui District Kai Fong Welfare Association, 136A Nathan Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong. A cross-interest voting system will continue to be adopted this year. Voters from all the 10 arts interests may cast votes for candidates standing for nomination in the eight contested arts interests. A list of the nominated representatives will be submitted to the Chief Executive for consideration for appointment to the HKADC for the next term, which will begin on January 1, 2011.
