The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (August 30) pursued five claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $60,000 on behalf of 16 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
At the Tribunal's hearing today, the five defendants, namely NETsolutions Asia Limited formerly known as Orchard Software (HK) Limited, DCDC (HK) Limited, Lee Shing formerly trading as Pure formerly known as I Do, Gainway Cleaning Limited and Global Satellite TV Limited, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $40,629.86, $8,963.52, $7,350, $1,609.44 and $1,450 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Adjudicator further ordered the defendants to pay $222, $135, $109, $40 and $115 respectively as the costs of the claims.
