Regarding some cases of Human Metapneumovirus in a male psychiatric ward in Tai Po Hospital, the hospital spokesperson issued the following updates today (August 27):
Two more patients (aged 46 and 82) in the ward have presented with upper respiratory symptoms. The patients are being treated under isolation and are in stable condition.
Admission and visits to the ward concerned have been suspended and infection control measures in the ward have been stepped up. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
