In response to press enquiries on the hostage incident in Manila, a spokesman for the Judiciary said today (August 26):
In accordance with the law, the relevant authority reported to the Coroner today regarding the eight bodies that were brought into Hong Kong yesterday (August 25).
On receipt of the report, the Coroner has decided that an investigation into the death by the Police should be carried out, taking into account all relevant considerations in accordance with the law.
The Coroner has today made eight respective "Order to perform an Autopsy" for the eight aforesaid bodies.
Upon receipt of the Police investigation report, the Coroner will then decide whether an inquest into the death should be held.
