Regarding the hostage incident in Manila, the Hospital Authority spokesman made the following announcement today (August 24):
In the hostage incident that happened yesterday (August 24) in Manila, a nurse at Kowloon Hospital (KH) and her family members were among those taken hostage. Her husband was unfortunately killed in the incident while her two children were released without injury. The HA and KH would like to express deepest sympathies to their colleague and her family and condolences to all the victims of the tragic event. The HA overseas medical support team are taking care of the nurse and her family and will provide all possible assistance.
Kowloon Central Cluster and KH have activated the critical incident support team, with emotional support service for staff members. The hospital is providing assistance and support to the concerned staff member, her family and other staff members as necessary.
