The following is a response from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) today (August 21) to earlier media enquiries on the progress of the enforcement action taken by their hawker control staff in Hong Ning Road, Kwun Tong on August 17:
FEHD has completed examination of the case report and considered that the enforcement policy and guideline in connection with the handling of unlicensed hawking activity have not been adhered to in the arrest process. After careful consideration, the Department decided not to proceed with the prosecution. The Department has once again issued a notice requiring all hawker control staff to adhere to the enforcement policy and guideline when taking enforcement action.
