Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Kwai Chung this morning (August 20) in which a 78-year-old woman was killed.
At 9.40am, a container truck driven by a 53-year-old man was leaving an industrial building and making a left turn to the eastbound carriageway of Ta Chuen Ping Street. The 78-year-old victim, who was crossing the road from the left side of the container truck, was reportedly knocked down by the truck.
The woman was trapped under the container truck and was certified dead at the scene by ambulancemen.
The container truck driver was arrested for ¡§dangerous driving causing death¡¨ and is being detained for further enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territory South, are underway.
