The Government has accepted the advice of the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee and approved a grant of $2 million from the Disaster Relief Fund for World Vision Hong Kong to undertake a relief project for flood victims in Shaanxi.
Announcing the grant today (August 6), a government spokesman said that the committee hoped it would help provide relief to flood victims in Shaanxi.
The grant is further to a disbursement of $17.23 million made earlier for The Amity Foundation, The Association of Chinese Evangelical Ministry Limited, The Salvation Army, Oxfam Hong Kong and World Vision Hong Kong to provide emergency relief to flood victims in Guangxi, Hunan, Jiangxi and Yunnan. It takes the total value of grants for flood victims on the Mainland to $19.23 million.
"To ensure that the money will be used for the designated purposes, the relief agency has been asked to submit an evaluation report and audited accounts on the use of the grant after the relief project has been completed," the spokesman said.
