Voting for the by-election will take place on September 5 (Sunday). The returned candidate will fill the vacant office of an elected member in the Southern District Council.
A briefing for candidates and their agents will be held at the Southern District Council Conference Room, 1/F, Ocean Court, 3 Aberdeen Praya Road, Aberdeen, at 6.30pm on August 9 (Monday). The Chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission, Mr Justice Barnabas Fung Wah, will chair the briefing and introduce the guidelines on election-related activities.
A representative from the Independent Commission Against Corruption will explain the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance. The Returning Officer and representatives from the Registration and Electoral Office, Hongkong Post and the Department of Justice will also be present.
