The Government today (July 30) announced the appointment of Ms Jo Jo Chan and Mr James M Heaney to the Advisory Committee on Cruise Industry (ACCI). Their term will run from August 1, 2010, until January 27, 2012.
Ms Chan is currently the director and general manager of Hong Kong Wing On Travel Service Ltd. Mr Heaney is the senior vice president and chief financial officer of the Disney Cruise Line and Travel Operations of The Walt Disney Company.
"We welcome Ms Chan and Mr Heaney to the committee. With their professional knowledge and experience in the cruise market and the travel industry, we are confident that they will contribute to ACCI's work in developing Hong Kong as a leading cruise hub in the region," a spokesman for the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau said.
Since its establishment in January 2008, the ACCI has provided advice to the Government on issues relating to cruise tourism development in Hong Kong and the region, fostering co-operation with neighbouring Mainland coastal provinces on cruise itinerary development, enhancing manpower supply for the cruise market, and facilitating interim berthing arrangements of cruise vessels.
