EPD encourages public to reduce waste at source
***********************************************

The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) will hold a series of roadshows from tomorrow (July 31) to August 15 to encourage the public to reduce waste at source and adopt a green lifestyle.

As part of the "Minimising Waste, Maximising the Future" campaign, the roadshows aim to raise public awareness of the importance of waste reduction and to encourage the public to make good use of resources, making Hong Kong a greener city.

The first two exhibitions will promote the 3R principles - "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" - in two major aspects of daily life: "Home living" and "Eating out". The exhibitions will feature display boards, interactive games and tongue twisters etc, which will help the public to gain a better understanding of waste reduction.

An exhibition of designer recycling bins will be held in mid-August, featuring bins designed by prominent artists, designers and artistes, namely Tommy Li, Dorian Ho, Dorothy Tang, Siuhak, Chocolate Rain, Lester Lee, the 38th International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice Medallist Lau Kin-gi, Simon Yam and Wai Yin Association.      Moreover, the campaign will join with training institutions of local and foreign domestic helpers to spread the waste reduction message. It will also partner with eight shopping mall and property groups in placing more recycling bins in shopping malls.
