The spokesperson of Kwai Chung Hospital made the following announcement today (July 30):
Nine patients (aged from 19 to 64) in a male ward have presented with symptoms of fever and flu since July 26. Viral test results of eight of the patients are positive for Influenza A. Four of the patients have been transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment under isolation and all are in stable condition. The hospital will continue to provide treatment to the remaining five patients and closely monitor their condition.
Admission and visits to the ward concerned are suspended for the time being. Infection control measures in the ward have been stepped up. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
