AO, EOII and MSOII applicants reminded to apply for Common Recruitment Examination and Basic Law Test
************************************************************

The Government will conduct the next round of recruitment exercises for the posts of Administrative Officer (AO), Executive Officer II (EOII) and Management Services Officer II (MSOII) in September.

Applicants for the posts will need to have obtained Level 2 in the two language papers (i.e. Use of Chinese and Use of English)(or equivalent results) and a Pass in the Aptitude Test paper in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) as part of the entry requirements for the posts. In addition, the Basic Law Test (BLT) result will continue to be one of the considerations to assess the suitability of a candidate. However, the BLT result will not affect a candidate's eligibility for applying for any of the posts.

The CRE and BLT will be held in Hong Kong on October 2 and 9. The application period for this local examination will run from July 30 to August 12.

For the convenience of those studying or residing outside Hong Kong, the CRE and BLT will be held on December 4 in Beijing and six overseas cities, namely London, San Francisco, New York, Toronto, Vancouver and Sydney. The application period for the non-local examinations will run from September 14 to 27.

Applicants who wish to apply for the AO / EOII / MSOII posts in the 2010/11 recruitment exercise but do not possess the requisite CRE or equivalent results at the time of application, as well as those who wish to sit for the BLT, must file a separate application to take the relevant CRE and/or BLT paper(s) during the relevant application period mentioned above. Applicants for the AO / EOII / MSOII posts will not automatically be given places at the upcoming CRE and BLT. Applicants may apply to take the examination in either Hong Kong or any one of the above seven cities outside Hong Kong (i.e. Beijing and six overseas cities), but not both.

Application details and on-line application facilities will be available at the website of the Civil Service Bureau (www.csb.gov.hk) during the said application periods, while details of the 2010/11 AO/EOII/MSOII recruitment exercise will be announced in September.
