A spokesman for the Department of Health said a report about one enterovirus 71 infection was received in the 24 hours ending at noon today (July 28). No new report of any hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) institutional outbreak was received during the period.
This brings to 80 and 588 the cumulative total numbers of laboratory confirmed EV71 infections and HFMD institutional outbreaks in 2010 respectively.
As at noon today, there was no school closure due to an HFMD outbreak.
