HFMD and EV71 situation update

A spokesman for the Department of Health said reports about one enterovirus 71 infection and one hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) institutional outbreak were received during the 24 hours ending at noon today (July 27).
This brings to 79 and 588 the cumulative total numbers of laboratory confirmed EV71 infections and HFMD institutional outbreaks in 2010 respectively
The new school outbreak was in Eastern District.
One school is closed due to an HFMD outbreak.
