CE wishes fight crime ambassadors a rewarding trip to Canada (with photos)

     The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, today (July 22) met fight crime ambassadors at Government House to wish them a smooth and rewarding trip to Canada.

     The 21 young ambassadors are the winners of the secondary school, post secondary school and non-government organization (youth service and uniformed group) categories of the "Hang Seng Bank - Help the Police Fight Youth Crime Competition 2010". They will leave for Canada on August 19, and visit police and other government departments in Vancouver and Regina during their eight-day journey.

     Commending for their outstanding performance in the competition, Mr Tsang said that the ambassadors had shown brilliant leadership and analytical skills.

     The theme of this year's competition was "Combating Youth Drug Abuse and Cyber Crime". He congratulated the ambassadors and appealed to them to keep on fighting against online crimes as well as disseminating anti-crime and anti-drug messages to their peers and in the community.

     He also reminded them to make good use of the trip and to introduce to Canada the latest development of Hong Kong  and spread the fight crime messages.
 
     Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr Tsang Wai-hung, joined the ambassadors for lunch before accompanying them to meet the Chief Executive.

     The biennial "Hang Seng Bank - Help the Police Fight Youth Crime Competition" was organised by the Police with sponsorship from Hang Seng Bank, which attracted a record number of more than 140 000 participants this year. Contestants had to go through three phases of evaluation comprising a combination of web game, quiz, report on newspaper article, essay writing, project presentation, aptitude test and interview.
