Police are investigating a murder and suicide case in which a 65-year-old woman and a 64-year-old man died in Chai Wan this morning (July 21).
About 5.45am, Police received a report that a woman was found lying unconscious in a corridor at Block L of Ming Wah Dai Ha. Police sped to the scene and found the injured woman. A fitness bar was seized.
Sustaining serious injuries to her head, the woman was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where she was certified dead at 9.02am.
Police conducted investigations at scene and found the husband of the woman lying unconscious on the floor inside their flat. The 64-year-old man sustained serious injuries to his wrist and chest and was sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital where he was certified dead at 10.47am. Police also seized a fruit knife inside the flat.
Initial investigations revealed that the man committed suicide after attacking his wife.
Post-mortem examinations will be conducted tomorrow (July 22) to ascertain the cause of their deaths.
Active investigations by District Crime Squad, Eastern are underway.
