From today (July 21) to July 30, the "In Search of Art - Art Specialist Course Exhibition" will be held at the Exhibition Gallery of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
Showing about 100 works of art by graduates and instructors of the courses over the years, including thematic works, printmaking, Western painting, Chinese ink painting, Chinese calligraphy, ceramics, sculpture and mixed media, the exhibition is held to foster artistic exchange and sharing.
The exhibition is presented by the Organising Committee of the Art Specialist Course Exhibition and co-presented by the Art Promotion Office (APO). Officiating at the exhibition's opening ceremony today were the Acting Assistant Director (Heritage and Museums) of Leisure and Cultural Services, Mr Chan Shing-wai, and Art Specialist Course co-ordinators: Mr Lee Chin-fai (sculpture), Ms Liu Siu-jane (printmaking) and Ms Wan Lai-kuen (ceramics).
Mr Chan noted that the development of culture and art in Hong Kong was one of the working principles of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). The future development of local art and culture is filled with opportunities and possibilities, and concerted efforts from all walks of life would be necessary to nurture new blood in the field, he said.
"The art specialist courses organised by the LCSD over the past few years have groomed more than 300 graduates, injecting a new force into a developing field. It is hoped that the graduates can go on to make their best endeavours to promote local culture and art," Mr Chan said.
The Hong Kong Cultural Centre is located at 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. The Exhibition Gallery opens from 9am to 8pm daily. Admission is free.
