CE leads government delegation to visit Sichuan

     The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, will lead a government delegation to Sichuan from July 25 to 27 to inspect the reconstruction projects of the Sichuan earthquake.

     Mr Tsang visited the quake-stricken areas in June 2008. In the past two years, the HKSAR funded 184 reconstruction projects, of which 151 were led by the Government. The total commitment was more than $8.5 billion. Many of these reconstruction projects have commenced. In this visit, Mr Tsang will inspect their progress and meet and encourage the front-line staff.

     Members of the delegation include Permanent Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Joshua Law; Permanent Secretary for Development (Works), Mr Wai Chi Sing; Acting Permanent Secretary for Food and Health (Health), Mrs Susan Mak; Director of Information Services, Mr Michael Wong; and representatives from the Education Bureau, the Labour and Welfare Bureau and the Home Affairs Bureau.

     During Mr Tsang's absence, the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, will be Acting Chief Executive.
