*******************************************************

Exhibitions at three prominent shopping malls in Shanghai have been launched to highlight Hong Kong's participation in Expo 2010 Shanghai China (Shanghai Expo).

Each mini-exhibition is based on a different theme to showcase Hong Kong as a modern, vibrant and interconnected metropolis.

The exhibition at Shanghai Times Square features a model of one of Hong Kong's much-loved trams. Through the display, visitors can learn about how Hong Kong's century-old tram system intermingles with skyscrapers and international brands symbolising the city's connectivity to the past, present and future.

Shanghai Xintiandi shopping mall is hosting an exhibition booth featuring videos that promote upcoming cultural programmes to be staged by Hong Kong for Shanghai Expo. Other videos include trailers of "Quattro Hong Kong" produced by Brand Hong Kong, the making of "Hong Kong: Creative Ecologies" Exhibition produced by Hong Kong Design Centre and a selection of mobile films.

To show the creativity of Hong Kong, selected exhibits by renowned artists such as McMug and McDull by Alice Mak, Honeymoon Dessert and Bla Bla Bra by Tommy Li and Redwhiteblue by Anothermountainman are on display.

I    In another exhibition in Shanghai Jinqiao International Commercial Plaza, a life-size replica of a Hong Kong-style teahouse or "cha chaan teng" captures the attention of passers-by. This special "cha chaan teng" represents a popular dining culture in Hong Kong and presents an excellent photo opportunity for visitors.

Hong Kong has a strong Expo presence with the focal point being a stand-alone Hong Kong Pavilion under the theme, "Hong Kong - Potential Unlimited". The city is also taking part in the Urban Best Practices Area Exhibition under the theme "Smart Card ¡P Smart City ¡P Smart Life" and has a presence in Expo Shanghai Online.

More than 55 events and activities are being staged by Hong Kong during the six-month Expo period to give visitors a taste of Hong Kong's unique way of life and cultural diversity.
