New government yearbook to be launched at book fair (with photo)
**********************************************************

The Government's newly published yearbook, "Hong Kong 2009", will go on sale at the Hong Kong Book Fair tomorrow (July 21).

The 5th East Asian Games (EAG), held in Hong Kong for the first time in 2009, is featured on the yearbook's cover showing the joy of supporters after Hong Kong's gold-medal victory in the football final.

The yearbook also features a tear-out mini-poster as a souvenir of the EAG.

As with previous editions, this volume provides an in-depth and factual account of government policy and activities and an overview of Hong Kong life and developments in 2009. It is an important and long-standing reference source and contains useful information of record.

The 21 chapters cover a wide range of subjects ranging from the economy, commerce and industry, employment, environment, social welfare, education, infrastructural development to culture and recreation, sports and the arts.

"Hong Kong 2009" has 12 colour sections with 130 photographs of events in 2009, including the EAG, the national anniversary, trade fairs and exhibitions, performing arts, as well as ongoing developments such as heritage conservation and revitalisation, infrastructure, green living and creative industries.

English and Chinese editions of the yearbook will be available at the Information Services Department (ISD) booth at the Hong Kong Book Fair from tomorrow.

People purchasing a book at the ISD booth at the book fair will receive 25% off the cover price of $171.

Purchasers are advised to bring along a bag as plastic bags will not be handed out at the booth.

More than 100 other government publications are available for sale at the ISD booth.

"Hong Kong 2009" and other government publications can also be bought at the ISD's Publications Sales Unit, Room 402, 4th floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Central.
