Trio jailed for conspiracy to steal and tampering vehicles

     Two men, aged 28 and 46, were today (July 16) jailed for four years and nine months and a 45-year-old man was jailed for four years and seven months after being convicted of conspiracy to steal and tampering vehicles at District Court.

     The District Court heard that on September 20, 2009, officer of Tuen Mun District conducted an ambush and intelligence-led operation and found the men tampering with two LGVs in a car park in Tuen Mun. They were arrested and were also found in possession of some light goods vehicle rear door keys.  

     After extensive enquiry, officers located five LGVs in some open-space car parks in Tuen Mun and Ma On Shan area and found the engines could be started with by the keys seized from the arrestee.

     The three men were later charged with conspiracy to steal and tampering vehicles.

     They were convicted of the charges at the District Court and the sentence was handed down today.
