Transcript of media session by SEN (with video)
***********************************************

Following is the transcript (English portion) of a media session given by the Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, when he attended an event to promote geopark gourmet dishes at Sai Kung today (July 16):

Reporter: How important is it for the local community to get involved in the geopark?

Secretary for the Environment: Today's function, where restaurants have their recipes and menus named after very interesting landscapes found in our geopark speaks for itself, that the geopark has the support of the local community.  Restaurants and the tourist industry can support this theme by using ways and means within their business to support it and I think that it is a very good sign. So when people or tourists visit the geopark, they may spend some time having a dinner or lunch here with a menu named after different rock types. It makes life much more interesting and perhaps makes the travelling more interesting as well.

Reporter: Do you want to get more people involved in the geopark?

Secretary for Environment: Certainly, certainly. Since the opening of the geopark, we have seen an upsurge of people coming, both local as well as overseas. Recently, I've been to Japan to do a promotion which attracted over a hundred groups, companies or local bodies, They have shown quite a lot of interest in Hong Kong's geopark as well.
