In support of National Fitness Day and to further promote "Sport for All" in the community, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will organise Sport For All Day on August 8. A series of free programmes will be held at designated sports centres in 18 districts throughout the territory on that day. Enrolment will start from tomorrow (July 15). Members of the public are welcome to participate.
The free programmes to be held at designated sports centres in various districts will run from 10am to 7pm. Programme highlights including dance, fitness corners, talks and assessments relating to sports and health, parent-child sports programmes and sports activities with district characteristics will be held between 2pm and 6pm. Enrolment can be made at the LCSD's District Leisure Services Offices or designated venues in districts starting from 8.30am tomorrow on a first-come-first-served basis.
Information about the sports centres designated for free programmes and details about Sport For All Day are available at the dedicated homepage: www.lcsd.gov.hk/specials/sfad/en/index.php . For enquiries, please call 1823.
The LCSD will also open its various fee-charging leisure facilities for free use by the public on that day. These facilities include:
*indoor leisure facilities: badminton courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, netball courts, volleyball courts, squash courts, table tennis tables, billiard tables, sport climbing walls, bowling greens, golf facilities, fitness rooms, activity rooms and dance rooms
*outdoor leisure facilities: tennis courts, bowling greens, batting cages, rope courses, sport climbing walls, archery ranges and golf facilities
*public swimming pools (except for Wan Chai Swimming Pool and Lai Chi Kok Park Swimming Pool)
*crafts at Water Sports Centres
Camping facilities, sports grounds and turf pitches will not be included in the free use scheme.
Booking for leisure facilities which have not been block-booked by organisations on August 8 can be made at all Leisure Link booking counters at LCSD venues from 10am on August 1 on a first-come-first-served basis. Each person may book only one session at the leisure facilities irrespective of the types. No prior booking is required for free admission to the LCSD's swimming pools on August 8. Those interested should line up at the entrance to the swimming pools before the opening hours of each session on that day.
Information about the Leisure Link booking counters and details about Sport For All Day have been uploaded to the dedicated homepage: www.lcsd.gov.hk/specials/sfad/en/index.php . For enquiries, please call 1823.
To make good use of the resources, if a hirer for free use of the leisure facilities on August 8 fails to take up the booked facility 10 minutes after the start time of the booked session, the facility will be reallocated to any walk-in applicants on a first-come-first-served basis.
The LCSD appeals to hirers to make the best use of the booked facilities. To give up their booked sessions, they can fill out the booking cancellation form or confirm their cancellation in writing and send the information together with the permit to LCSD by fax, e-mail or in person. The booking cancellation form is available at all Leisure Link booking counters at LCSD venues and can be downloaded at the Sport For All Day dedicated webpage.
The LCSD hopes that by providing free activities and free use of leisure facilities, people who currently do not exercise will be encouraged to do so and thereby develop the habit of engaging in sport or other physical activities every day.
