Further grants approved for flood victims on Mainland
*****************************************************

The Government has accepted the advice of the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee and approved two grants from the Disaster Relief Fund totalling $2.05 million for two relief agencies to undertake relief projects for flood victims in Jiangxi and Yunnan.

Announcing the grants today (July 9), a government spokesman said that the Committee hoped the two grants - one of $1.07 million to The Association of Chinese Evangelical Ministry Limited and another of $0.98 million to Oxfam Hong Kong - would help provide relief to flood victims in Jiangxi and Yunnan respectively.

The grants are further to a disbursement of $15.18 million made earlier for The Amity Foundation, The Salvation Army and World Vision Hong Kong to provide emergency relief to flood victims in Guangxi, Hunan and Jiangxi. It takes the total value of grants for flood victims on the Mainland to $17.23 million.

"To ensure that the money will be used for the designated purposes, the two relief agencies have been asked to submit evaluation reports and audited accounts on the use of the grants after the relief projects have been completed," the spokesman said.
