Dragonfly Therapeutic Retreat launched its first outlet in Hong Kong today (July 8). The Dragonfly Foot Spa, located inside Novotel Century Hotel in Wan Chai, offers locals, tourists and business travellers more choice for a relaxing massage.
Dragonfly Therapeutic Retreat features a fusion of Asian massage techniques and ambience. The company started with humble beginnings in Shanghai in February 2003, focusing on a niche market of busy international travellers and foreign expatriates living in Shanghai. Since then it has grown from a single shop to a popular chain with 17 locations throughout China and overseas in Dubai, UAE. It has deep roots in China and also a strong desire to expand internationally.
The Founder and the Chief Executive Officer of Dragonfly Therapeutic Retreat, Mr Georgie Yam, said, "Shanghai is far away from Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong and so it makes logistic sense for us to use Hong Kong as a convenient base from which to manage shops in neighbouring Macau as well as Guangdong, given the linguistic links and easy overland transportation."
"We are literally 'dipping our toes' in Hong Kong waters with a foot spa offering a special blend of relaxing deep sleep therapies. Our first retreat is of modest size but it gives us a chance to familiarise ourselves with this new market so that we can plan the subsequent rollout of full-scale Dragonfly retreats. Typically our retreats are three to five times the size of our Hong Kong Foot Spa, and include additional beauty services such as nailcare, waxing, facial and tanning services," Mr Yam said.
