Appointments/re-appointments to Air Transport Licensing Authority

     The Government announced today (July 8) the re-appointment of the Chairman and three incumbent members and the appointment of two new members to the Air Transport Licensing Authority:

Chairman
Mr Andrew Liao Cheung-sing (re-appointment)

Members
Professor Michael Fung Ka-yiu (re-appointment)
Mrs Mabel Lui Fung Mei-yee (re-appointment)
Mr Philco Wong Nai-keung (re-appointment)
Ms Amanda Liu Lai-yun
Mr Paul Tan Chuen-yan

     They are appointed/re-appointed for two years from August 1.  The other members of the Authority are Mr Albert Au Siu-cheung and Ms Elizabeth Law, whose term of appointment will expire on July 31, 2011.

     A Government spokesman said, "We are delighted that the Chairman, the three incumbent members and the two new members have accepted the re-appointments and appointments respectively.  We are confident that the team of new and serving members, with their expertise and background in different sectors, will make valuable contributions to the work of the Authority in facilitating the development of air services in Hong Kong."

     "The Government is most grateful to the two retiring members, Mr Ma Ho-fai and Ms Vivien Chan, for their invaluable contributions to the work of the Authority upon the expiry of their term on July 31," the spokesman said.

     The Authority is an independent statutory body established under the Air Transport (Licensing of Air Services) Regulations, Cap. 448A.  It is responsible for considering applications from Hong Kong airlines for licences to operate scheduled services to and from Hong Kong in accordance with the provisions of the regulations.

     The appointments/re-appointments will be published in the Gazette tomorrow.
