Kowloon City restaurant ordered to suspend business
***************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Kowloon City to suspend business for 14 days.  The operator repeatedly extended its food business illegally in breach of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, on the ground floor, 3 Bailey Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (July 5) to July 18.

"In April this year, two convictions on the above-mentioned breach were recorded against the food premises," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $9,500 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

He said the food premises licensee also had two convictions in June and July last year for the same offence.  A total fine of $9,300 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches had led to business suspension for seven days in October last year.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
