**********************************************************

The Secretary for Justice, Mr Wong Yan Lung, SC, will officiate at the opening of the largest-ever legal services forum organised by the Department of Justice in Shanghai tomorrow (July 6).

The forum is to demonstrate to the corporate and legal sectors of the Mainland the strength of Hong Kong's legal profession and dispute resolution service. It also aims at fostering cooperation between the legal profession and arbitration communities in both places.

The Secretary will address an audience of some 500 legal practitioners, businessmen and officials from the Mainland who are keen to learn about issues to be discussed at the forum. These include risk management in international trade and investment, corporate finance and governance as well as resolving disputes in Hong Kong. Veteran lawyers from Hong Kong will share their experience in these areas with concrete examples.

Mr Wong also took the opportunity to visit the Hong Kong Pavilion and Hong Kong's Urban Best Practices Area Exhibition in the Shanghai Expo.

He will also host a welcome dinner this evening for co-organisers, supporting organisations, speakers and moderators of the Hong Kong Legal Services Forum.
