Thousands enjoyed the London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in London's Docklands and helped raise money for Chinese charities in London.

Londoners of all nationalities enjoyed the London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival 2010, which took place at the London Regatta Centre in the Royal Albert Dock on June 27.

The festival is once again sponsored by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London, and organised by the London Chinatown Lions Club, with the support of the London Chinatown Chinese Association and the Hong Kong Executives Club.

As well as a full day of racing involving 33 teams, the event raised money for five local Chinese community organisations.

Teams made up of rowers from corporate organisations and public sector organisations competed in heats along the 200m course.

Director-General of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London, Miss Sarah Wu said, "I am delighted that the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office is again supporting the London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival.  This event has become one of London's most colourful community sport and cultural events. As a promoter of and staunch supporter for the festival since 2007, I am thrilled to see the ever growing enthusiasm and support for this signature event."

For spectators and rowers between races, there was an afternoon of cultural performances including lion and dragon dance, kite-flying, and live music, and food and market stalls.
