Public forum on Village Representative Elections proposed guidelines next Monday

The following is issued on behalf of the Electoral Affairs Commission:

     To prepare for the Village Ordinary Election to be held in January 2011, the Electoral Affairs Commission will hold a public forum next Monday (June 28) on the Proposed Guidelines on Election-related Activities in respect of Village Representative Elections.

     The forum will begin at 2.30pm in the Commission's conference room at 10/F, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai.  Commission Chairman Mr Justice Barnabas Fung Wah and member Professor Andrew Chan Chi-fai will chair the forum.

     The Commission invites all interested persons and parties to express their views at the public forum.

     The proposed guidelines were released on June 10 for public consultation until July 9.  The Commission will take into account the responses received in this consultation exercise and release the finalised guidelines.

     Written representations on the proposed guidelines can be sent to the Commission's secretariat at 10/F, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai. They can also be submitted by fax (2511 1682) or email (eacenq@reo.gov.hk).

     The proposed guidelines can be obtained from the Registration and Electoral Office (10/F, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai), or the Public Enquiry Service Centres of the District Offices.  They can also be downloaded from the Commission's website (www.eac.gov.hk).  For enquiries, please call 2891 1001.
