A spokesman for the Department of Health said reports about one enterovirus 71 infection and 11 hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) institutional outbreaks were received during the 24 hours ending at noon today (June 25).
This brings to 478 the cumulative total number of HFMD institutional outbreaks in 2010.
The new school and institutional outbreaks were in Central and Western, Eastern, Kowloon City, Kwun Tong, Sham Shui Po, Wong Tai Sin and Tsuen Wan.
Two schools are closed due to HFMD outbreaks.
