The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, today (June 25) departed for Shanghai to attend the Lujiazui Forum 2010 and will speak at a plenary session entitled "Shanghai in 2020 and the Evolving Landscape of Global Financial Centres".
The two-day forum, which started today, is jointly organised by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, People's Bank of China, China Banking Regulatory Commission, China Securities Regulatory Commission and China Insurance Regulatory Commission.
The Lujiazui Forum is an annual high-level global platform for government officials, world financial leaders and scholars to exchange views on major topics in the financial industry and to further strengthen cross-border co-operation.
During his visit in Shanghai, Professor Chan will also meet the Vice-Mayor of Shanghai, Mr Tu Guangshao; the Director of Shanghai Municipal Government Financial Services Office, Mr Fang Xinghai; the President of the Shanghai Stock Exchange, Mr Zhang Yujun; the Chairman of Bank of Communications Co, Ltd, Mr Hu Huaibang; the Chairman of Guotai Junan Securities Co Ltd, Mr Zhu Youyi; and Chairman of the Board, Haitong Securities Co Ltd, Mr Wang Kaiguo.
Professor Chan will also give a speech at the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
He will return to Hong Kong on June 27.
