The Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited (HKCMCL) announced after its board meeting today (June 24) that Mr Paul Chow Man-yiu has taken over the chairmanship of the board of directors of the company from Mr John E Strickland.
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, expressed her heartfelt thanks to Mr Strickland. "We are grateful to Mr Strickland for his invaluable contributions to the HKCMCL over the past seven years. He was the first chairman of the board and has laid a very solid foundation for the healthy long-term development of Cyberport. His advice and support have been instrumental in helping Cyberport achieve its public mission," Mrs Lau said.
"We also welcome Mr Chow as the new chairman. Mr Chow has rich experience in the finance and ICT industries and knows Cyberport well. We are confident that under his leadership, the HKCMCL will continue to work towards the attainment of Cyberport's mission of creating a strategic cluster of quality IT and related companies as well as a critical mass of professionals in Hong Kong," Mrs Lau added.
Mr Chow retired from his position as Chief Executive of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited in January 2010. He was director of the HKCMCL from 2003 to 2007 and has for many years been a government advisor on ICT development when he was a member of the Digital 21 Strategy Advisory Committee and its predecessor, the Information Infrastructure Advisory Committee, since its inauguration in 1998.
